They've come a long way, haven't they?
Everyone is sitting in anticipation; counting down the days until Comic Con 2012. The links are bookmarked, Youtube is being watched with careful eyes for the first round of photographs go up. Airports are being carefully monitored, when will they leave? Will they fly privately or publicly? Will they fly together or in separate departures to throw off the hounds waiting for them with their sweaty paws wrapped tightly around their cameras...waiting, watching, anticipating...
Fans sit in rapt attention, the drought has been long and boring. Long, because it's been such a long gap from a wedding until now and still no sign of them. They have their spies out and about, any clue, any hint to be given; 'they're bound to come out of their house at some stage, they need to shop for heaven's sake!!'
I know, i find it all a bit humorous that so many dedicated Robsten fans, see events such as Comic Con like Christmas morning all over again; dare to be surprised and hope not to be disappointed. Although personally speaking, i can't see that happening. After all, Rob and Kristen are just going with the flow now. They know the many media outlets are aware that they are together, so hiding it or trying to play it coy doesn't work any more. A huge weight has been lifted; they are in control, this is the final hurdle and after November - Twilight will be finished. No obligations for promotion, no need to do anymore interviews promoting the vampire romance. No more photo-shoots bringing together Edward, Bella and Jacob. The stage will be set and Rob and Kristen will say a tearful farewell to the characters that 4 yrs ago, brought them both together.
Blonde-Stew to resurface once again... |
Kristen and Rob are nothing if not dedicated to the roles they pick and believe in making them as believable as possible and that includes all the scenes in between. I know there is a distinctive pattern of behaviour in some fans who believe they have just cause to tut and tsk at things they simply don't understand. The rumblings i got from the Nonsten and Krisbian graveyard indicated that some have been a little dismayed at the 'leaked footage of sex scenes in both Cosmopolis and On the Road'
"How can they possibly allow each other to be that intimate, to be that exposed and not feel jealous or annoyed at the actors they have to work with? Surely there is a reason to feel jealous and insecure of each other's work ethic. How many relationships can fail because the other one is not trusted, affairs happen this way!"
Ah if you are a teen or an insecure person and see fault in everything, including that little word that holds so much meaning 'acting'
Rob and Kristen are actors and acting is what they are good at. Sure, scenes involved nakedness or near nakedness is highly embarrassing at the best of times and in some occasions incredibly awkward. But if you look at it logically, there really is no difference than going to work in an office job every single day. There are several cameras, lighting technicians, camera men, boom operators, sound technicians and of course, the Director sitting behind a panel of screens watching you 'make out' with your fellow actor. Kind of a mood killer don't you think?
Just another day on the job? |
What i found tender and loving, was a man who had done a few scenes with other actresses and found the whole situation embarrassing, simply because they were very comfortable with their bodies and he was very awkward and shy about exposing his. They did their thing, sauntered around in front of the camera and he was the one left feeling insecure and vulnerable. YET, on the set of Breaking Dawn, not once did he mention about feeling embarrassed or uncomfortable without any clothes (except for a nude thong which was too small) and spent most of his time between setting up the scenes, covering Kristen up with the sheet from the rest of the people in the room. Like i said, loving and endearing and i would bet my last dollar he didn't do that to the other actresses he has worked with? Kristen is the one who knows him better than anyone else; she knows his hang ups and insecurities and she also knows that the last thing he would do, would be to jeopardise their relationship, just for a quick fumble because he got a little bit 'over excited doing a scene with an actress' The actresses he has worked with have been very respectful towards him, and not one of them have ever said he was nothing but a gentleman. So, the whole idea of Mr. Pattinson enjoying the naked attention of his fellow actors is not only ludicrous, but senseless rumours drummed up to create a little bit of drama in the fandom.
As for Kristen...
Kristen with 'On the Road' co-star Garrett Hedlund... |
Again, we go back to the whole 'process of film-making and how it's achieved' Rob has been nothing but supportive of Kristen in every single movie she has ever done, and there have been areas of Kristen's movie past where she has tackled some pretty 'out there' story lines and subjects. She is, as ever dedicated in making a role believable and she puts her heart and soul into everything she does - and that includes tackling a pretty intense sex scene in 'On the Road' Was Rob jealous? Of What? Come on people get with the programme. The only people see this really for what they want it to be - all drama and spiteful jealousy, are those that want to make something out of nothing. I am not saying that this is an area they will no doubt have discussed at length 'hey hunny, I'm about to do a role where i have to engage in several scenes of getting my clothes off and roll around naked on a bed, are you cool with that?'
Comic Con 2011... |
Q: "How was it at Cannes with 'On the Road' at the same time as your boyfriend, Robert Pattinson was there for 'Cosmopolis'?"
K: "I'm very proud of him and he is proud of me. We've gained so much from being at Cannes, the biggest Film Festival in the world."

Rob has constantly mentioned in interviews how Kristen understands him, and how her support has always been important to him. He is also, if not her greatest supporter in every movie she has ever done since meeting and working together in Twilight. To the point he loves talking about writing a script with her and how he 'loved working with Kristen' whom he still believes is the 'best actress of her generation.' Kind of hard not to smile when you read the kind of comments they both say about each other.
Come and take a ride with me... |
Oh and before i go...
Back in the day, when all this kicked off. When the name Robsten was a tag-line (one i have never liked) to describe a would be couple, a brand name if you like. There was a blog that was the hub of all things gossip and salacious. A place where people went to catch up on what the celebrities where doing, wit but with a bite - gossip with bitchy claws. I am talking about The Awful Truth - Ted Casablanca's up to the minute showbiz gossip column. During my time reading his satirical wit; I came to meet some really lovely online people, whom i still talk to, today. We had all flocked to Ted's blog with the intention of finding out more about the nature of Rob and Kristen's 'status' as co-stars and possibly find out if there was any truth in the rumours surrounding them. Of course Comic Con '08 for me sealed the deal, but some where still holding out for more evidence, more confirmation that Rob was head over heels with his young actress playing mortal Bella.
Several years later; several moments good and bad and the rest became a dog-match to the bitter end - Nonstens against Robstens with Ted, watching at the helm and keeping the salacious banter at an all time high. The blog was no longer a place to hang out, the wit became very stale and dare i say it - repetitive? Ted has decided to hang up his Queen of Gossip cap and move on to pastures new. E! is relaunching their blog and website, reinventing itself pretty much like Madonna has, the old is out and the new have to pull out all the stops to keep them there.
I tilt my cap in Ted's direction, for i met some really interesting people while reading his blog, you could say the constant backlash of Rob and Kristen supporters against those who still hate to this day the nature of their relationship (together, together) brought me to the point of creating a blog of my very own - for shits and giggles. And say, so long and farewell to one of the most interesting of people and may he find what he's looking for.
