*It seems fitting that i put this post up today - considering my rant about protecting their privacy i.e their secluded hide-out from the rest of the world...here's a little fluff to tie you over the mundane drought ;-)*
Heh!
It's safe to assume that to the well travelled folk who know a thing or two about the movie twilight - Rob and Kristen's names are as popular to them as...breathing air. To also say that the director of the first movie, knew a thing or two about their explosive 'sexual tension or chemistry' is an understatement. Rob is by far the worst liar - it has to be said. His emotions flow from him as easily as water. He is a very safe person to read (BL wise) as his little ticks and micro expressions (both facially and through his BL interpretation) come naturally and at times uninhibited. Because he either knew about them and never tried to hide it (admitting that the powers that be, tried to coach him in media training but he didn't buy it) or he really was clueless and let things 'slip' out too many occasions to count.
But then again...when you are attracted to a person, when you see them as an object of your affection...you just can't help yourself. We all know the story right? How Rob had originally passed up the script to the teen movie story; about a vampire who falls in love with a mortal girl. Even going so far as to suggesting to his 'pal' that he should maybe audition for the part. (that's Tom Sturridge to you and me) That was until he found out (telephone call from Catherine Hardwicke) that Kristen Stewart had just signed on to play the lead of 'mortal girl - Bella Swan'
Ah do i hear birds chirping in the trees, hearts exploding with an arrow from cupid? ... Or just pure lust and deep bone attraction for a young girl, who he had just seen in a low budget indie movie directed by Sean Penn, called 'Into the Wild'
It might have been a fairly small part for the young actress; who had a body of work behind her name since she was 10 yrs old, but it was a part that certainly caught Rob's attention. So much so, that a few desperate calls later and he was on a red-eye flight to Los Angeles, to crash on the couch of his Agent - Stephanie Ritz and an audition the next day for the vampire lead. All this we know, we also know that the audition was 'hot' according the the hip and groove director Catherine; all caught on a trusty tape never to be seen, unless someone breaks into her home and steals it. But what was interesting to know was that out of all the actors who auditioned with Kristen that day, all who thought they were 'perfect for the role' Rob was the last one to be seen. Sitting in the back yard of Catherine's home, smoking and in a dazed nervous state (thanks to the 1/2 Valium he took prior to turning up on the directors doorstep) Rob was noticed by Kristen and curiously, she went out and introduced herself. Only to then return moments later, collect some glasses and drinks from Catherine's kitchen and sit outside with him.
You might not find that at all strange, but when you consider Kristen had sat with four other actors that day; reading through the lines, auditioning the pivotal 'kiss scene' on Catherine's bed - yet none of them seemed to spark the interest in the young, but gifted 17 yr old actress. In fact as the years have progressed and the 'those that did not get the coveted role of Edward Cullen' have slowly emerged to say 'yes i was one of the four' it is clear to see and by Kristen's own admission, they did not have what 'she was looking for' in her leading man. They either tried too hard or didn't try hard enough. They were going for the pretty and not what they could bring to the character of the teenage vampire - torn between falling in love with Bella and draining her of her blood.
Or maybe, just maybe the attraction Rob had for Kristen then; the 'crush' as it was to be called at the time, far outweighed trying too hard. His quiet demeanour, his self-depreciating and soft spoken voice, might have just won the heart of the fair maiden that afternoon as they seemed to 'click' with each other right away. Lines were spoken in the 'self made biology lab' in the directors kitchen. The terrace in her yard acted at the outside of 'Forks High School' and the legendary bedroom, was the backdrop for 'Bella's' where the kiss between Edward and Bella was to take place.
A kiss that was most definitely 'not' PG-13 the director has hastened to add, too many times in fact. Rob got into it so much, he fell off the bed. Kristen got into it so much, that when Rob left, she pleaded with the director to cast him as Edward. Even though the young actor didn't exactly have a glowing resume of movies many in the US might have seen. With the exception of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and (blink and you will miss it) the Order of the Phoenix. A book/movie series that Kristen admits she was a huge fan of and read the books when she was 12...(I wonder who her favourite 'Potter' character is?)
Considering Cedric dies in GOF; the memory of this much loved 'character' will forever live on...dies in Potter and returns as a vampire in twilight.
The fates you could say (all Shakespearian lovers out there) smiled kindly down on Rob when he got the part and quicker than you can sign his name - Rob moved to the US to begin working on the first twilight movie.
Back to Body Language...
Eyes are the windows to the soul, they are also our greatest downfall and our worst enemy. You can tell a lot about a person through their eyes, but you can also be misguided by them. When Kristen and Rob stepped on a Red Carpet together, it was to softly promote their new movie on MTV for the first time. The Movie Awards; an annual event for all movie enthusiasts hoping to catch a glimpse of someone famous and vote for their favourite movie or icon, gave the two actors their first taste of fanatics who had at the beginning, shunned the idea of this 21 yr old British actor, playing the much loved book role of Edward. So much so, that some book fans event took to getting a petition signed to get him removed. Of course with hair dyed the colour of Bronze (not far off his own natural colour of light brown) clean shaven and waxed eyebrows - Rob Pattinson stood out from the crowd with his tall frame and quirky, but nervous sense of humour.
What also stood out for me was the awkward 'tension' between Rob and Kristen. It seemed as if he was 'afraid' of touching her and not in a 'repelled' sense, but in a 'can't touch even if i want to!' This could be because Kristen at the time, was with someone else and to Rob - sadly she was 'off limits!' It certainly contributed to the awkward poses; the tight fisted hands placed on her shoulders, folded protective arms and the strange way Kristen kept looking at him. A lot of pent up tension is not good for anyone, especially given that this type of (BL) display proves that Rob was indeed very attracted to Kristen. When you are attracted to someone and frightened to show it, or at the very least nervous around them, because your attraction makes you nervous - you react in a way that shows just how much you actually are affected by them.
Kristen was a young, impressionable woman - certainly for Rob, she ticked all the boxes. She was both intelligent and bright and her love for literature and old movies, paralleled Rob's interest in both. But she was the type of person who also intimidated Rob from the very beginning, because she had a clear view of what she wanted out of life and always went after what she wanted (career wise) that is. Did not suffer bullshitters; preferred people to be honest and open with her. With Rob's disastrous record of not being able to lie, or was it simply he didn't see the reason in lying to people - Kristen was able to see him very clearly. Or as she so poetically put it 'I could see into his heart and he could see into mine'
It's possibly the reason why she often spoke in post twilight interviews, of her relationship with Rob as being 'complicated' Complicated in a sense that her emotions where all twisted up and the fine line between character and actor, became blurred.
She often became skittish around Rob; mirroring his (BL) during the MTV Movie Awards of 2008. So by the time it came to finishing twilight and taking the movie on the road - promotion wise, Kristen was all kinds of an emotional wrecking ball; hormones swinging from one emotion to the next. Of course no one knows the exact nature of when or how they ended up...more than just good friends. I could give some time lines and put the suggestion across based on (BL) and of course, Rob's wonderful confessions, which had me chuckling out loud every time he opened his mouth. I could also say that he laid it on pretty thick during the first run of promotions. Clearly showing he was not 'media trained' as he gave some really good morsels of how much he liked Kristen; asking her to 'marry him' too many times to count. How much he could 'easily fall in love with her' and of course, he had a crush on Kristen after seeing her in the movie 'Into the Wild' the very movie that after watching it, he wanted so desperately to work with her.
Oh yes, of course there was the added small problem of Kristen 'being' with someone. Someone who Rob had no problems during interviews clearly suggesting 'what boyfriend?' Dismissing him in his usual adorable 'open mouth and insert left and right foot' manner. Like i said, the attraction Rob felt for his co-star was a powerful thing and not the kind of emotion you play with. Certainly Kristen gave enough hints of not experiencing the kind of 'deep bone crushing love' that Bella has for Edward and that if she ever met someone like Edward, she would be absolutely swept away.
Mmm...so the Author Stephenie Meyer's description of Kristen's reaction; when Rob walked passed Kristen, Stephenie and Catherine, smiling only at Kristen on set (SM was also there for the first few weeks of shooting twilight) the glazed over eyes and mouth gaping open, meant nothing?
Ahuh...
One thing you can't deny is 'sexual' attraction. It's not as easy as some people think. The whole 'forbidden love' was very much seen by many who noticed the parallels between the characters and actors, especially on set and not just the fans reaction. How Rob had fallen for Kristen in the way Edward had fallen for Bella and cynics still believe to this day they are acting out some form of a PR romance.
Don't believe me? Well, how about Rob's painful description of how he felt during the Rome Film Festival in 2008. He was there with Catherine and Kristen and during a Q & A session promoting the movie, when asked was he like his character Edward in the romantic sense, his answer clearly spoke volumes about how he felt at the time;
"I'm not romantic to everybody. I kind of have the whole attitude which Edward has, where if you are going to make an effort with someone, then it has to be that one person and that's it. I'm similar to him in that respect...I'm very guilty about it."
Honesty and integrity go hand in hand...
For Rob, those words alone not only signalled what he was possibly going through at the time, but it also seemed to affect Kristen in a very profound way too. Was he talking about his situation; his possible love for one person, but she was unattainable? Was he possibly looking too far into his character and couldn't identify and separate the two emotions? Or was he dropping a huge hint at Kristen, that if you are going to make an effort to love someone, it has to be only one person and that's it.
Was he tired of sharing her 'complicated' emotions with someone else?
If this was a PR romance, then this young couple are doing it all wrong. Again, no one knows for sure when the lines blurred and they became a couple. Of course, there's a lot of evidence that can sway you one way or the other. But for arguments sake when it happened, a lot of fans were very happy indeed. To say it was wished for; Rob is such a nice guy with not a pretentious bone in his body. Caring and giving not to mention, head over heels in love with his co-star of four movies now...is an understatement. Kristen is a very loyal and giving person; determined, driven, kind and thoughtful - she keeps her friends close and her enemies closer. This couple are the 'Hollywood Sweethearts' right now, mirroring such great love stories as Newman and Woodward, yet the keep their 'romance' out of the spotlight as much as possible.
Rob's honesty in the end paid off; having spoken from the heart and more than likely put his words into actions - both actors have embraced 'finally' the idea that there are far many fans out there who 'support' their relationship, than hate it. Sure, Rob is a good looking man; anyone would want to get to know him better, but he is not one (as shown in his 2008 confession) to spread himself about. He by his own admission is a 'one woman man' and the woman who he is with...seems to keep the smile permanently stuck on his face. He has always complimented Kristen for all her hard work as an actress, even to the point of addressing and thanking her at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, where they have so far - racked up 3 'Best Kiss' awards for the twilight saga. His happiness can be drawn on how much he has grown both professionally and personally.
Kristen too has matured gracefully and happily into a stunningly confident woman. Gone are the awkward years for both of them; no longer is Kristen being seen as the sullen and dismissive actress, most media outlets perceived her as. Misguided and misjudged i would have to say, they never treated her with fairness and made a very 'private' person incredibly nervous. Now, she can finally stand up proudly and has been able to find the voice they actually listen to now and not judge so harshly anymore.
They have both weathered a shit storm of nonsense aimed at their direction. Ignored the pathetic hate that is a constant pain in the arse for some, but for the couple in the centre of it all, it's just simply ignored. All part and parcel of being together when others don't want that to happen. But in the four years since they met at Catherine Hardwicke's house - Rob and Kristen have both grown together, have both rode on the crazy roller coaster that is the fanatical frenzy of twilight. And during that time...fallen in love. The Body Language i have seen from one year to the next, just keeps getting better.
2011; saw them relax in their stance of 'keeping everything private' maybe it's because their obligation to the twilight movies is coming to an end. Like their characters, it is safe to say that 'Edward and Bella/Rob and Kristen' are together and no wolves or third party love wheel, can come between them. People have fallen in love with Rob and Kristen, because they prove that even in the most pretentious and fake of places (that's Hollywood to you and me) two people can actually find one and other and hold onto them...without the need of a PR controlling their lives and selling their 'love story' to the world.
Actions speak for themselves; Rob and Kristen don't need to sell anything, because they refuse to be one of those 'cliché' staged 'fake' relationships. If anything you will have learned about these two individuals, it's that they don't do fake, they don't do showmance - their relationship is real, because they believe in honesty and trust. No one has come between them in the years they have been together. Hard pushed to prove a story about an alleged affair, when it won't stick, yet some believe they can, just so they can ignore the blatantly 'obvious' signs.
People like me, will forever put up the 'obvious' signs, because anyone with common sense can see it, feel it and witness the connection; respect and love between them. It doesn't matter how many times they spend apart - they have made it their absolute commitment to each other to try and be together - no matter the distance. Duty to their craft as actors, will always take presidence over the trivial things in life. But this couple have proven time and time again no matter how trivial - a steady and committed relationship is just as important. They keep each other grounded and level headed. Neither is egotistical, another reason why they have successfully weathered the storm of jealousy that surrounds them.
Did Robert Pattinson think, the moment he stepped through the door of Catherine Hardwicke's home in late 2007, that he would have several successful movies under his belt. A now five movie book deal awaiting it's bitter-sweet end. Studios and Directors eagerly arranging lunch/dinner meetings to try and sign him over to the next project. His face adorning every teenage girls bedroom wall; all brooding and moody as a vampire. To find LA as being his 'fixed' home, far removed from living in a small cramped flat in Soho - London. Strumming his life's story on his much loved guitar?
To fall in love with the enigmatic and enchanting actress of a movie, a movie that probably was the just cause for sealing his fate and bringing him to her.
You can view this as a love story; the evidence (photographic) is very clear to see...
Their (mirrored) Body Language is that of two people, very in-sync with each other and that can only ever happen when the two people in question, are both mentally and physically together i.e. a couple.
I know this is a little bit of fluff and i have enjoyed looking over the photographs myself again and placing them side by side, so that hopefully you can see the difference between 2008 and now.

So...here's the thing. I was looking through some old photos on my hard drive. You know, photos from twilight and beyond ;-) and how much Rob and Kristen's Body Language has changed since then.
Now to the not so clued in; Body Language is a form of human psychology, involving and analysing patterns of human behaviour. Therefore, when it is used (and not on crappy blog sites, who have so called 'experts' but really they're nothing more than charlatans pretending they are something they are not - Professional my arse!) to explain certain 'attraction or chemistry' between two people, it is wise to assume the person knows a thing or two about it right?
Heh!
It's safe to assume that to the well travelled folk who know a thing or two about the movie twilight - Rob and Kristen's names are as popular to them as...breathing air.
